Colla's story begins in 1921 in a small dairy in Cadeo in the province of Piacenza, with the production of a hard cheese that some 30 years later would take the name Grana Padano. The business began its activity by selling batches of Grana Padano cheese produced in-house and then extended it to marketing Parmigiano Reggiano, purchased from long-established producers, with many of which it still enjoys an excellent working relationship. The company is located in a strategic position on the border between the Grana and Parmigiano areas, and has a strong bond with its territory. Over the years and generations, the production of Parmigiano Reggiano was added to that of Grana Padano. In order then to respond to the needs of an ever-changing market, Colla built the most modern maturing warehouses, where it is still able to mature all the cheese it markets, and state-of-the-art packaging facilities, taking the decision in the early 1990s to present itself as a supplier of distributor brands, in the process becoming a market leader.
Thanks to the investments made in facilities, equipment, people and know-how, Colla is now one of the leading players on the national dairy scene. The company has achieved almost total coverage of the Italian market, and its main goal is to continue expansion into foreign markets, where it wants to spread the long tradition of quality that the Colla family has always embraced and has wanted to pass on to consumers who choose its products. Colla is an extremely adaptable company, willing to listen to the needs of its clients and to contribute its experience and knowledge to project development. This is also why it decided to obtain BRC and IFS certifications, of which it now holds the highest standard ratings. All these characteristics together with a strong service orientation have led to it exporting its products to 46 countries on 5 continents, in most of which long-standing partnerships have been established with importers and distributors.
